AMCC's 3ware 9690SA-4I SAS/SATA RAID Controller Honored With Network Products Guide's 'Best in Storage' Award
Posted on: Monday, 4 August 2008, 09:00 CDT
Applied Micro Circuits Corporation's 3ware(R) storage division (NASDAQ:AMCC) announced today that Network Products Guide, a Silicon Valley Communications publication and a world-leading publication on technologies and solutions, has named the 3ware 9690SA-4I the winner of the 'Best in Storage' award as part of their 2008 Best Products and Services Awards. This respected annual award honors products and services that address the rapidly changing needs and interests of the world's technology end-users.
"Increased end-user awareness and ongoing advances in technology are helping shape better products and services," said Rake Narang, Editor in Chief, Network Products Guide. "The winning 3ware 9690SA-4I empowers a new class of users to enjoy enterprise-like storage capacity and expandability."
The 3ware 9690SA-4I is a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID controller designed for value-end 1U, 4-bay servers, departmental servers and professional workstations that typically employ four direct-connect internal drives. Expandability to 128 SAS/SATA devices with all 3ware 9690SA SAS/SATA controllers is achieved with standard SAS expanders.
"We are honored that our newest SAS RAID controller won the Best Products and Services Award for 'Best in Storage,' as nominated by the readers of Network Products Guide," said Scott Cleland, Director of World Wide Marketing, AMCC Storage. "SAS is the interface for the direct-attach server space, SCSI's former mainstay. The 3ware 9690SA-4I, with its attractive price point, makes 3ware SAS available to a greater audience as it helps to more cost effectively replace the aging parallel SCSI interface."
