nCipher and Nemonix Engineering Partner to Provide Encryption and Key Management Solution for the OpenVMS Platform

nCipher plc (LSE:NCH), a global leader in protecting critical enterprise data, and Nemonix(TM) Engineering, a provider of OpenVMS (Open Virtual Memory System) services, today announced a partnership in which Nemonix will sell and support nCipher's CryptoStor storage encryption appliance into organizations utilizing the OpenVMS platform.

Today's security regulations and compliance mandates are driving the widespread deployment of encryption to protect sensitive information throughout the entire data lifecycle, which includes storage, back-up and recovery systems. Many organizations - especially those in the healthcare and financial services markets - rely upon business critical systems that run on highly reliable legacy VMS systems, which were not designed to easily integrate encryption technology without expensive and complex systems upgrades.

As is the case with many large organizations, Nemonix's customers often run mixed environments including VMS systems, Linux and Windows-based systems. These mixed environments often require separate dedicated encryption point solutions. The flexibility and multi-platform capability of the CryptoStor appliance eliminates the need to deploy multiple, often incompatible products.

Under the terms of the partnership, Nemonix will sell nCipher's CryptoStor encryption and key management appliance into its new and existing customer base. In addition, Nemonix will provide first level support for the OpenVMS implementations. The two companies look forward to expanding their relationship to include additional nCipher offerings.
