Yosemite Technologies and InMage Systems Partner to Provide Customers With Total Data Protection From the Core to the Edge of the Network

August 6, 2008

Yosemite Technologies, Inc., a global provider of total data protection solutions, today announced a partnership with InMage Systems(R), Inc., a leading provider of disaster recovery and business continuity software. Under the terms of the deal, InMage is offering Yosemite’s popular FileKeeper Corporate with InMage’s flagship DR-Scout solution to its global customer base that includes over 1,800 companies in the small and midsize business market. The combined offering ensures that data from servers at the ‘Core’ of the network to laptop and desktop PCs at the ‘Edge’ is always protected and available.

“Strategies that are effective for protecting critical business data that reside on servers may not be effective for laptop and desktop computers, and vice versa,” said Arun Taneja, founder, president and consulting analyst of the Taneja Group. “Protecting data in both places can be complex and challenging, but failure to implement a solution that provides a business with total data protection could result in catastrophic data loss and, in the worst case, may even mean the failure of the business. That is why the combined offering of Yosemite FileKeeper Corporate for transparent continuous data protection for the ‘Edge’ of the network and InMage DR-Scout for well-accepted ‘Core’ protection is a powerful solution.”

Yosemite FileKeeper Corporate replaces traditional scheduled backups with continuous data protection (CDP) and allows the user to perform their own recoveries via intuitive right-click menus accessible from a number of places on the user’s system and independent of network connection status. FileKeeper automatically backs up Windows documents in real-time, every time they are saved to disk. Documents are first protected on a data repository that resides on the local hard drive of the PC. When the PC reconnects to the corporate network, FileKeeper automatically replicates each version of the protected files to one or more file servers or Network Attached Storage devices. To save on space and network bandwidth, only the byte level differences between versions are saved. Finally, to ensure corporate data protection policies are adhered to, everything can be controlled by an administrator via the FileKeeper Policy Server.

DR-Scout drives the cost and complexity out of disaster recovery and continuous local backup by leveraging offloaded, block-level CDP technology that scales from small organizations and branch offices to large enterprises. Using a simple, centralized interface, IT staff can recover to any predetermined business event or any point in time, within any storage environment. Lost or deleted files and mailboxes that once took days to recover only take seconds to minutes with DR-Scout, resulting in near zero data recovery point and recovery time objectives. Push button failover for leading applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL, SharePoint, Oracle, BlackBerry Server and SAP is offered. DR-Scout supports Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems as well as various virtualization platforms and interoperability among all popular storage architectures.

“Based on the company’s flagship DR-Scout product with technology that combines disaster recovery with CDP and solves other issues such as branch office consolidation, the decision to partner with InMage was intuitive,” said George Symons, CEO of Yosemite. “Corporations have seen the need for laptop protection for years, but because of the complexity of most laptop protection products, they have left it up to the users to copy files to a file share. With the simplicity of FileKeeper Corporate and the combination with DR-Scout, customers can be assured that their information is always protected.”

“Yosemite’s FileKeeper Corporate solution is well known for its ‘set-it-and-forget-it’ ease of use for protecting desktops and laptops,” said John Ferraro President & CEO, InMage. “Combining this with DR-Scout’s robust BC/DR for production servers and applications will provide customers with unprecedented data protection from the core to the edge of their network as well as a high level of peace of mind.”

Yosemite FileKeeper Corporate and InMage DR-Scout are both immediately available with pricing of FileKeeper Corporate beginning at just $39 per protected PC.
