Man, Boys Arrested in Burglary
By Greeley Tribune, Colo.
Aug. 7–Staff reports
Two 15-year-old boys and a 21-year-old man were arrested on the University of Northern Colorado campus late Tuesday after they tripped a burglar alarm in Michener Library.
A search warrant for their apartment in south Greeley later resulted in the recovery of two laptop computers and a UNC west campus master key ring, which were taken in an earlier theft.
An arrest warrant accused the three of breaking into Michener last Saturday, taking the laptops and the keys, then returning Tuesday night to take computer programs and discs.
The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when UNC Officer Patrick Gallagher answered an alarm to room L-174 of the library building. When he entered, he found the three suspects in the room, apparently taking the computer programs and discs. They may have used the previously stolen key to enter the building and room Tuesday.
The names of the juveniles will not be released, but the adult was identified as Jarrod Huguet, 21, of Greeley. His apartment, the subject of the search warrant, is in the 1800 block of 30th Street.
Huguet is in the Weld County Jail on two counts of burglary and two counts of theft, and his bond has been set at $10,000.
UNC spokesman Nate Haas said Wednesday the computers contained no personal or sensitive information.
