Dartware Ships InterMapper 4.3 Network Monitoring Software at ISPCON
Posted on: Monday, 23 May 2005, 15:00 CDT
Dartware, LLC, a trailblazer in the development of graphical and intuitive real-time network monitoring tools, announces the immediate availability of InterMapper 4.3 at Booth #217 of the ISPCON Spring 2005 exhibition.
InterMapper and WISPerMapper, a version of InterMapper that has been designed for Wireless ISPs, each monitor a data network and alerts the network manager when problems arise. The software is a cross-platform application, running identically on Windows, MacOS X, Unix, and various Linux distributions.
"We have incorporated our customers' requests to make it even easier for them to monitor their networks with InterMapper," according to CEO Rich Brown. "This new version can monitor many more kinds of equipment, import geographic data, and directly monitor NT Services on remote computers."
InterMapper has the following new features:
-- Geographic Import/Export: InterMapper can import and export a tab- delimited file that contains information about the devices to monitor. If the import data file has latitude and longitude information, InterMapper will automatically place the device icons in the proper position on the map. -- NT Services: InterMapper can monitor NT services on remote computers and alert the network manager when one or more of the services has stopped. -- A new Interfaces Window shows detailed information about each of the interfaces of a router or switch, and allows the operator to hide or show the individual interfaces on the map. -- Enhanced display of custom icons. Drag-and-drop importing of icons and icon sets, and the icons are tinted to match the device state when failures occur (red for failure, orange and yellow for alarms and warning states.) -- New probes for the Barracuda Spam Firewall and the UCD SNMP MIB. In addition, WISPerMapper contains a bundle of probes for the most popular wireless manufacturers, including gear from Alvarion, Canopy, EnGenius/CB3, Karlnet, MikroTik, Orthogon, Proxim, Redline, smartBridges, Trango, and Tranzeo. -- Enhancements to exploit new facilities in the MacOS X 10.4 ("Tiger") operating system.
