Legend Silicon, CCTV Home Shopping Channel and Intel Jointly Demonstrate Olympics-Ready HDTV on Laptops
FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ — In anticipation of the 2008 Beijing Olympics on August 8, the CCTV Home Shopping Channel, Intel Corporation and Legend Silicon Corporation hosted a demonstration of high-definition television (HDTV) broadcast capability on a laptop with the high-performance Intel Centrino-2 processor at the Shanghai Pacific (Xu Jiahui) Electrical Mall.
The revolutionary new Aigo USB dongle product, designed with Legend Silicon’s LGS-8G54 demodulator chip, enables viewers in Shanghai to watch terrestrial high definition television (HDTV) on laptops during 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing wherever and whenever they want.
The Aigo USB dongle offers several significant improvements over previous portable television reception performance for standard definition (SD) and HD broadcasts, while also meeting stringent technology quality standards required for USB dongles. Additionally, the “REC” function of the product enables viewers to capture, record and replay HDTV programs. Chinese consumers can buy this product from CCTV Home Shopping Channel and its IT malls.
“As a new technology frontier, portable reception of terrestrial HDTV requires advanced technology to make mature products available in the market,” said Bin Tan, Legend Silicon’s business development director. “Legend Silicon will continue to develop core technology in cooperation with the terrestrial digital TV industry to provide the most advanced solutions for consumer electronics manufacturers. This road show, with our USB dongle partners Intel and the CCTV Network, further reinforces our commitment to this goal.”
