Upcoming Mariners Landing Concerts

Two platinum-album winning bands will be coming to Smith Mountain Lake next weekend to play popular and new tracks. Grand Funk Railroad, a classic rock band, will perform Aug. 22; Blake Shelton, a country music artist, will perform Aug. 23.

In the Aug. 22 edition of Laker Weekly, Don Brewer, drummer for Grand Funk Railroad, will divulge the true story behind the group’s song “We’re an American Band,” and give his thoughts on how the group has endured almost 40 years.

The concerts are part of the Mariners Landing Summer Concert Series. Tickets for Grand Funk Railroad are $25 in advance online at tickets.com, by phone at (888) 397-3100; or $30 at the gate. Tickets for Blake Shelton are $30 in advance or $35 at the gate.
