KDU College has grown into a top training institution for information technology specialists as its graduates have become a force to be reckoned with in many organisations.

Many have stamped their mark in multinational companies such as Shell, Schlumberger, Ericsson and IBM.

They are the products of programmes such as the Diploma in Business Computing, Diploma in Computer Studies and Diploma in Internet Technologies at KDU College.

Former student Wu Yu Ping, from Hunan in China, who graduated in 2004 is now employed as a senior business continuity analyst with State Street Corporation.

He said his most memorable moment was when he obtained straight As in several semesters, earning him the merit scholarship twice from KDU.

He was the first student from China to receive the award twice.

Various groups of students have also participated and won various competitions with the most recent being champions in the Astro Technologenius 2007 competition.

Their achievements can be attributed to the college providing up- to-date learning facilities such as computer laboratories and library.

The syllabi for the IT courses are regularly updated to ensure graduates acquire skills according to industry standards.

KDU College has been working closely with its industry partners in revising the syllabi to ensure their relevancy.

To improve employability of its graduates, the syllabi feature soft skills training, communication components and internship.

The college has also included housing and transportation to cater to the needs of students from outside the Klang Valley.

Students who do not meet the entry requirements of three SPM credits can register for the JPK-Multimedia Authoring or JPK- Multimedia Visual programmes.

Completing several levels in this programme can lead to a diploma- level certification.

KDU’s reputation has also drawn excellent partner universities for the IT franchised programmes.

Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK, has offered its BSc (Hons) 3+0 Computing Studies and MSc Business Information Technology for full and part-time study at KDU over the past five years.

The Murdoch University in Perth, Australia, has also offered its BSc 3+0 Computer Science and Games Technology, BSc 3+0 Computer Science and Internetworking and Security and Bachelor of Business Informatics 3+0.

BSc 3+0 Computer Science and Games Technology and BSc 3+0 Computer Science and Internetworking and Security are double major programmes.

The partner universities have also evaluated the diploma programmes and have awarded exemptions and advance standing into their programmes.

The August/September intake is now in progress.
