By Anonymous

Reckitt Benckiser, a Slough, England-based manufacturer of household cleaning products such as Lysol, Old English and Woolite, has been offered a $1.9 million incentive from the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) to build a distribution and logistics center in Tooele County.

While the firm has not made a final decision regarding the location of the project and is considering potential locations in Nevada and Utah for the new facility, GOED said that should it accept the incentive, the firm would invest approximately $35 million in the new facility and would hire 140 new full-time employees during a 10-year period at an average salary above 125 percent of the Tooele County median wage.

During the same period, according to GOED, the company would be paying new state wages of $49 million. New state tax revenue is expected to exceed $9.5 million during the same period.

Reckitt Benckiser is the parent company for many household cleaning products such as Lysol, Easy-Off, Woolite, Spray & Wash, Electrasol, and Air Wick. It also makes over-the-counter pharmaceuticals such as analgesics, antiseptics, flu remedies and gastrointestinal medicines, and offers products for hair removal, denture cleaning and pest control. Reckitt Benckiser also makes French's mustard. The firm traces its roots back to 1814, sells its products in 180 countries and has operations in 60 countries across all continents.
