SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 2003--
SBE to demo its Solaris Ready certified dual port Gigabit Ethernet
board
SBE Inc., (NASDAQ:SBEI), a leading supplier of high performance OEM communications solutions, today announced that it will be showcasing its Gigabit Ethernet and TCP/IP Offload Engine technologies, acquired from Antares Microsystems, at the SunNetwork Conference. The three-day SunNetwork event is taking place from September 16-18, 2003 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
In addition to having its own booth (#IP-170) at the event, SBE will also feature its dual port Gigabit Ethernet NIC (P0082) with failover in the Solaris Ready(TM) booth. SBE's single (P1055, P1056), dual (P0082), and quad (P0085) port Gigabit Ethernet adapters have achieved Solaris Ready certification. Solaris Ready certified products must pass stringent testing requirements for system compatibility, ease-of-installation, functionality, and network interoperability as defined and controlled by Sun Microsystems.
"Sun's Solaris Ready program allows developers, like SBE, to proudly display the Solaris Ready logo on certified products, enabling customers to readily identify third party solutions featuring proven interoperability on Sun SPARC and Solaris environments," remarked Patric Chang, Director, Market Development Engineering at Sun Microsystems. "Sun is pleased to provide its customers with reliable, high-performance product options, such as SBE's Gigabit Ethernet adapters, and look forward to bringing additional SBE offerings into the Solaris Ready certification program over time."
SBE will be highlighting at its booth its Solaris and Linux-based WAN, LAN and Storage I/O boards, including Gigabit Ethernet, SCSI, and Fibre Channel, as well as its initial roll-out of TCP/IP Offload Engine products. "SBE recognizes that with Ethernet speeds increasing beyond 100 Mbit/s as end-user performance expectations grow, the need for significant offloading of protocol processing is becoming an unavoidable requirement, hence our investment in acquiring TOE technologies from Antares," commented Daniel Grey, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SBE. "We plan to display the first phase of our TOE products at the SunNetwork Conference to demonstrate how deploying TCP/IP offload in conjunction with SBE's high-speed Ethernet technologies allows applications to maximize networking capabilities."
