Expand Networks to Demonstrate WAN Optimization Over Low Bandwidth High Latency Links at LandWarNet

August 19, 2008

Expand Networks, www.expand.com, a leading provider of application acceleration solutions over the Wide Area Network (WAN), today announced that it will demonstrate WAN Optimization over Low Bandwidth High Latency Links at the Defense, Communications and Information Technology event at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale from August 19th to August 21st. Product briefings and demonstrations will be conducted at booth 1213. Howard Teicher, Vice President, Public Sector and Satellite Markets, will be available for pre-arranged interviews.

“Expand Networks’ optimization technology, the Accelerator Operating System, enables the ground, air and maritime forces to squeeze maximum efficiency out of their SATCOM networks and achieve dramatic bandwidth throughput increases, accelerated network performance, comprehensive network management and significant cost savings,” Teicher said. “No other network optimization platform offers a comparable set of integrated optimization tools and capabilities.”

Awarded the United States Army’s Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (WIN-T) Increment 2-3 TCP Performance Enhancing Proxy (PEP) contract earlier this year, Expand enhanced its position as the leading supplier for optimization technology to the US military with the integration of its product line into the US Air Force JSTARS program. During the show, Teicher will be available to discuss the importance of WAN Optimization and how it can provide solutions to problems such as the limited availability and reduced bandwidth of traditional beyond line of sight (BLOS) ultra-high frequency (UHF) tactical satellite (TACSAT) communication networks, which struggle to provide adequate throughput and application performance for network centric warfare.

Teicher brings unique qualifications to his role at Expand Networks. Before joining the company, he served in the White House from 1982 to 1987 as Senior Director for Political-Military Affairs and Director for Near East and South Asian Affairs at the National Security Council. A syndicated columnist for the Los Angeles Times and the author of Twin Pillars to Desert Storm: America’s Flawed Vision in the Middle East from Nixon to Bush, he also served in various capacities at the Departments of State and Defense from 1977 to 1982.
