IDF 2008 -- Sensory Networks, the leader in pattern matching and acceleration software technology, today introduced plans to offer full support of the Intel(R) QuickAssist Technology API for L2 - L7 content inspection on Sensory Networks' HyperScan(TM) pattern matching engine later this year.
HyperScan is a high-speed pattern matching software solution comprising a comprehensive suite of specialized content scanning engines, including PCRE. With Intel(R) QuickAssist Technology support on HyperScan, vendors can utilize a common API and code base to reduce many of the complexities associated with application interfacing and system integration. In addition, this architecture will allow vendors to flexibly switch between hardware and software solutions. HyperScan presently delivers layer 2 - layer 7 content scanning performance to over 29Gbps on an Intel(R) quad-core processor platform, while matching against millions of patterns that include regular expressions, literals, wildcards and back-references.
"Sensory will be the first company to provide software-only support for Intel(R) QuickAssist Technology at performance levels comparable to hardware solutions," said Mick Johnson, Director of Product Marketing for Sensory Networks. "With HyperScan, we've taken a major leap forward by delivering software performance that breaks through memory, latency, and throughput performance barriers previously thought to be insurmountable."
"As demand for content inspection continues to build, Intel(R) QuickAssist Technology will enable the industry to converge on a common API that is simple, easy to support and provides deployment flexibility," said Stephen Price, marketing director, Intel Performance Products Division.
Sensory Networks HyperScan scales linearly and, in some cases, super-linearly with the number of CPU cores and provides a deep content inspection solution that leverages cache memory to provide pattern matching up to speeds of 29Gbps. With HyperScan being a 100% software solution, its high performance, scalability and flexibility directly translate into substantial gains in packet processing intelligence, price/performance and time-to-market advantage for networking and security platforms.
