Gas Natural has reported that it invested E40 million in the autonomous Spanish community of Catalonia in the first half of 2008, bringing supplies to three new municipalities, extending the network to new clients in towns which already have gas services, and renovating the existing distribution network.
The company has connected the municipalities of Castelltercol, Gelida and Castellgali to the Catalan pipeline network, as planned for 2008. Gas Natural said that it provides services to more than 300 municipalities and decentralized municipal entities in Catalonia, where it has more than two million customers.
By the end of 2008, the company plans to bring supplies to Moia, L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, Tivissa, Mont-roig del Camp, Miami Platja, Bonmont, Suria, Cardona, Olius, Gualta, Campllong, La Maso i Vallmoll, Artesa de Segre, Els Alamus and Vilagrassa.
In line with its strategy of making gas supplies fully available in municipalities which already have supply networks, Gas Natural has been extending energy services to new residential areas.
In total, the company plans to connect 59,500 new supply points and extend the network by 558km in 2008. Gas Natural will be investing a total of E90 million in Catalonia during 2008.
