Gateway Expands Award-Winning Server and Storage Product Lines for Education, Government and Business Clients

IRVINE, Calif., May 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. today introduced three new full-featured, high-performance and cost effective server and storage products for the education, government and business markets. Available at an industry leading price of $3,999, the Gateway(R) 9715 Server is a high-performance 4-way server platform for enterprise applications and database deployments requiring exceptional levels of data integrity and availability. The Gateway 9315 Storage Server and the Gateway 9415 Storage Server leverage the existing hardware architecture of Gateway's 9315 and 9415 Servers, and provide new Network Attached Storage (NAS) features such as print server, backup appliance and the ability to attach external storage.

Gateway 9715 Server

The 9715 rack-mount server is ideal for database applications as well as server and storage consolidation projects. Using Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 or VM Ware applications, the Gateway 9715 can also be implemented as a Blade server alternative with the ability to run multiple instances of server operating systems. Enabling peak performance and reliability, the 9715 provides the capacity for four high-performance Intel(R) Xeon(TM) MP processors with up to 8MB cache and EM64T, DDR2 Memory with a Memory RAID option, memory sparing capability, slot-less Fibre Channel option and PCI Express architecture. The 9715 offers tremendous expansion capability with support up to 32GB of system memory and capacity of up to 3TB of internal SCSI storage(2).

The 9715 supports multiple operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server software, Novell's Netware 6.5, Red Hat Linux Enterprise 3.0 and 3.0 EM64T, and SuSe Linux Enterprise 9.0 and 9.0 EM64T. Additionally, the server comes complete with the Gateway System Manager (GSM). The GSM is a real-time monitoring tool that gives IT managers ability to manage their platforms.

The Gateway 9715 Server is priced starting at $3,999.

Gateway 9315 Storage Server and 9415 Storage Server

Both the Gateway 9315 Storage Server and the Gateway 9415 Storage Server are high-performance, cost-effective NAS solutions. These products have capabilities including: print server, backup appliance and the ability for externally attached storage.

The Gateway 9315 and Gateway 9415 each utilize Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 software, saving network administrators' time by providing near seamless integration into any environment. Additionally, this software enables quick and easy deployment for plug-and-play installation, fast data recovery, web-based management for remote management, and enhanced performance for File and Print serving.

Both units provide scalable memory and storage options and the choice of single or double CPUs. The 9315 Storage Server is SATA-based, supporting higher capacities, while the 9415 Storage Server is SCSI-based, providing top reliability and performance.

The Gateway 9315 Storage Server supports the latest 64-bit Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors, 800MHz FSB and EM64T for performance-intensive requirements. The system also includes three internal SATA hard drives with hardware RAID 5 support, as well as both PCI-X and PCIe support. The Gateway 9315 Storage Server is ideal for an entry level NAS solution with up to 1.2TB of raw internal data storage2 in only 1.75" of height.

The Gateway 9415 Storage Server supports the latest 64-bit Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors 800MHz FSB for performance and storage-intensive applications. An innovative design, the 9415 Storage Server integrates three hot-swap SCSI drive bays with RAID 5 capability and dual-redundant, hot-swap power supplies in a 1.75" chassis. Additionally, the unit provides up to up 900GB of raw internal storage, making it more space-effective.
