Quake Measuring 5.1 Hits Central Japan

Tokyo, 22 Kyodo - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 jolted the Kanto region and its vicinity on Friday, measuring 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Fukushima, Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said.
The 7:59 p.m. quake was felt in extensive areas measuring 3 at several points in Fukushima, Gunma, Saitama and Chiba prefectures. A slight tremor was felt in Tokyo.
No tsunami warning was issued, and there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The focus of the quake was around 50 kilometres under the seabed off Ibaraki, according to the agency.
