Bell, a Canadian communications company, has announced that it will deploy high-speed fiber access directly to new condominiums and other multi-dwelling units throughout the Quebec-Windsor corridor.
According to Bell, its fiber to the node (FTTN) program is deploying fiber to within less than a kilometer of homes throughout the Quebec-Windsor corridor. It is expected that 2.4 million households will be covered by the end of 2008. FTTN is also being deployed in all new suburban housing developments.
George Cope, president and CEO of BCE and Bell, said: "Along with our ongoing investments to build out new fiber to neighborhoods, enhance our IP networks for business, and expand our national high-speed wireless network, the fiber to MDU (multi-dwelling units) program is part of our commitment to deliver a better customer experience at all levels."
