Marshal Selected By the Government Services Unit of Perot Systems

Secure email and Web gateway security provider Marshal today announced that the Government Services unit of Perot Systems Corporation has selected MailMarshal and WebMarshal to protect information, guard against spam, viruses and malware, and help increase productivity for its employees.
Perot Systems Government Services provides IT services to the U.S. government across the United States. MailMarshal and WebMarshal replaced the mail and Web filters the division has used for the past seven years.
"The security, integrity and control of our email systems are vital to our ongoing capability to provide continuous high quality IT services," said Mike Stark, IT director for Perot Systems Government Services. "Marshal's solutions are well thought-out and offer a lot of flexibility in how we set up policies, rules and actions."
One of Stark's primary concerns was providing greater protection for employees against spam and viruses. During the MailMarshal evaluation phase, the division was inundated with PDF spam that the previous mail filter was not catching. Stark installed the MailMarshal demo and it blocked all of the attachment spam at the gateway, solving the spam problem immediately.
MailMarshal also allows users to check their own spam queues and whitelist and blacklist senders. "MailMarshal has a very nice Web interface for employees to manage their spam," said Stark. "We actually used this feature to sell MailMarshal internally, and it was so well received that our helpdesk calls related to this task have fallen dramatically."
Perot Systems Government Services also makes use of Marshal TRACE Alerts, which are email messages that warn customers of new threats such as spam, phishing and viruses. "The TRACE Alert provides relevant information in an easy to scan email format," said Stark. "There have been several occasions where information in a TRACE Alert has motivated us to make immediate adjustments, allowing us to be proactive in our content security program."
"We're always pleased when companies discover the power and flexibility of our policy-driven solutions," said Steve Sheinbaum, vice president of Americas for Marshal. "Perot Systems Government Services is a great example of a company using MailMarshal and WebMarshal to solve business problems related to email communication and Web access."
