Since launching on July 11th, T-Mobile has sold more than 120,000 new 3G iPhones."Our (sales) expectations were surpassed," Hamid Akhavan, chief executive of T-Mobile, said in an interview with a German weekly magazine.
T-Mobile is a carrier of the iPhone in the Netherlands, Austria and Germany. There has been 75,000 iPhones sold in Germany alone.
According to Akhavan, distribution hit a snag due to Apple's decision to launch the iPhone in 22 countries at the same time.
Apple's new 3G (third generation) iPhone has faster Web connections when compared with the first iPhone that was launched in mid-2007.
But, despite the new speed, users around the world have complained about dropped calls and inconsistent Internet speeds, with the phone often reverting to a slower technology known as Edge even in known 3G areas.
Apple issued a software update last week, to help fix connection problems that led to a flurry of online complaints from customers.
Akhavan said that although there have been a lot of complaints from Dutch customers; there has not been any from German and Austrian customers.
