Fresh Design for Website Proves a Hit

Swansea Council's new website has been hailed a success.

According to an online survey, thousands of new visitors have logged onto the site since its relaunch at the beginning of last week.

The results revealed that 73 per cent of respondents thought it was either better or much better than its predecessor. One of the new features of the site is the addition of a high contrast and text- only version which makes the site easier to use for people with mild visual impairments.

Despite its success, the website failed to deliver on the weekend when it went down for a number of hours. The council apologised for the problem and said it was a rare occurrence.

Website manager Duncan Thomas said: "We've been delighted with the response so far. The feedback we've received indicates that people are finding the site far easier to use."

Cabinet member for business improvement and efficiency Mary Jones said: "It's encouraging to see the transformation of the website is having a positive effect for users."
