Isilon Systems Opens Tokyo Office to Meet Growing Japanese and Korean Demand

SEATTLE, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Isilon Systems, the premier provider of intelligent clustered storage, announced today the launch of its Isilon Systems K.K. subsidiary headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Isilon, which last year announced its first distribution deals in Japan and Korea with Techmatrix, Tokyo Electron and Seoul Electron, opened its Tokyo office in response to strong demand for its award-winning family of Isilon IQ clustered storage systems in the high growth Japanese and Korean markets.
"The opening of the Isilon Systems K.K. subsidiary, spearheaded by our new Tokyo office, marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Isilon," said Steve Goldman, president and CEO of Isilon Systems. "The Japanese and Korean markets represent a huge expansion opportunity for Isilon and we are honored to have such a talented team of executives and distribution partners to deliver our industry-leading clustered storage products to customers in those markets."
To oversee continued growth in Japan and Korea, Isilon has assembled a seasoned team of storage industry executives led by Isilon Systems K.K. vice president and managing director Akihiko Takiguchi. Mr. Takiguchi has a distinguished track record of introducing storage products to new markets and has previously worked for Hitachi Ltd, Hitachi Data Systems and Sun Microsystems.
"Isilon has an impressive track record of attracting world-class customers and is recognized as a leader in clustered storage," said Mr. Takiguchi. "We are dedicated to working with our partners to exceed customer expectations and meet growing demand by delivering the world's best, highest performance and most reliable clustered storage products."
As industry analyst IDC forecast in its recent "Worldwide Disk Storage Systems 2003-2008 Market Forecast and Analysis," the Japan and Asia Pacific markets account for nearly one quarter of worldwide storage spending. Isilon Systems K.K. will offer the company enhanced access to these significant markets by providing key in-market sales, marketing and support resources to Isilon's distributors, value-added resellers and customers.
"Isilon has a clear focus, compelling products and an obvious value proposition," said Tony Asaro, senior analyst for the Enterprise Strategy Group. "As such this positions them extremely well for international markets. Japan is a huge creator of digital content and Korea has the world's highest broadband penetration -- together these markets represent a great step towards the expansion of Isilon's global reach."
Isilon recently announced the next generation of its award-winning Isilon IQ clustered storage family -- the Isilon IQ 1920, 3000 and 4800 storage systems and the newest version of its award-winning OneFS distributed file system software -- which sets new industry standards for performance, scalability, ease of use and reliability. Isilon IQ is the first clustered storage system to scale to more than 150 Terabytes of capacity, deliver three gigabytes/second from a single file system, and support high-performance InfiniBand for low-latency, high-bandwidth intracluster communication. This new line of products will be exhibited with Tokyo Electron and Techmatrix at the upcoming NETWORLD+INTEROP Tokyo 2005 conference, to be held June 8-10 at the Makuhari Messe convention site. Isilon won the NETWORLD+INTEROP Best in Show Award at last year's Tokyo show.
Isilon Systems has been recognized with numerous product and company awards -- including most recently being named one of Red Herring's 100 Private Companies in North America and receiving a Storage Networking World Award for innovation for customer LexisNexis File & Serve's use of Isilon IQ clustered storage technology.
