BellSouth to Launch a New High Speed Broadband Service

CHICAGO, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth announced plans today to launch a new high-speed broadband service in the fourth quarter of 2005. The company's new service will deliver residential and business customers downstream connection speeds of up to 6Mbps.

"The introduction of a broadband service with downstream speeds up to 6Mbps will enhance BellSouth's robust portfolio of broadband options," said Michael Bowling, vice president of data product management for BellSouth. BellSouth(R) FastAccess(R) DSL Xtreme 6.0 will provide residential customers with a fourth option when selecting their FastAccess DSL service. BellSouth's tiered approach to broadband already includes the following speeds:

- FastAccess DSL Xtreme, which allows customers to download, surf and

game online at speeds up to 3Mbps downstream X 384Kbps upstream.

- FastAccess DSL Ultra, ideal for downloading large files, enjoying

streaming video and online games at speeds up to 1.5Mbps downstream X

256Kbps upstream.

- FastAccess DSL Lite, perfect for e-mailing, Web surfing and online

banking without the delays and hassles of dial-up, at speeds up to

256Kbps downstream X 128Kbps upstream.
