Posted on: Monday, 6 June 2005, 18:00 CDT
ADTRAN(R), Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading provider of network access equipment, today announced the Total Access(R) 1100F, an innovative solution that enables IPTV and deep fiber connectivity for ADTRAN's widely accepted Total Access OSP and Mini-DSLAMs. The Total Access 1100F provides standard GigE network connections, content security features, and can also be used as an Ethernet aggregation point for increased transport efficiencies with ADTRAN's market leading IP-enabled RT and SAI DSLAMs.
"Ethernet's momentum as an access technology continues to grow throughout our customer base," says Jay Wilson, Vice President of Product Marketing for ADTRAN's Carrier Networks Division. "With ADTRAN OSP DSLAM solutions capturing nearly 100% of the North American market, the addition of the 1100F is a key component of our overall strategy to meet the needs of high bandwidth and next generation services such as IPTV with systems that facilitate the transition of current networks economically."
The Total Access 1100F is an integral part of ADTRAN's Total Access OSP and Mini-DSLAM product lines, providing a key piece to the industry's most versatile IPTV solution. The initial phase of the IPTV vision for DSL-based video called for the placement of OSP/RT DSLAMs closer to the subscriber, meeting the economic needs of Internet access while positioning for video. The Total Access 1100F fulfills the vision by driving fiber deeper into the network, transforming the DSLAMs from Internet delivery platforms into IPTV and premium service platforms.
