China Cable Television Network has upgraded its bandwidth capabilities to increase network capacity and allow delivery of more channels at higher quality, with a metro ethernet solution from Nortel.
According to Nortel, China Cable Television Network's (CCTN) network is based on products from its metro ethernet network portfolio, including the Optical Multi-service Edge 6500 (OME 6500). The OME 6500 is claimed to consolidate layers of networking, functions, and platforms by utilizing Nortel's tunable transponders equipped with eDCO (electronic dynamically compensating optics) to deliver metro ethernet services.
Jackson Wu, president of Nortel China, said: "Nortel's metro ethernet solutions allow broadcasters to react quickly to changing customer requirements, while maintaining a consistent network management system that lets operators focus less on technical issues and more on delivering the content their viewers want."
