IT for Africa Appeal

September 5, 2008

PEOPLE are being urged to help schoolchildren in one of the world’s poorest countries.

The Computers 4 Africa Appeal in Newcastle is asking for any unwanted but working computers or IT equipment to be donated at a special collection day next week.

Computers will be sent to schools in Africa to help teach vital IT skills in areas which would otherwise be unable to afford the equipment.

The charity is collecting PCs, laptops, notebooks, monitors, keyboards, and stationary items, including paper, pens and pencils.

There will be a free collection service for donations of five or more PCs on both days of the appeal, which should be arranged in advance. Equipment must meet minimum specifications and should be in good working order.

Take unwanted equipment to Unit 1, West Den-ton retail park, Westerhope, Newcastle on September 12 and 13 from 9am to 5pm. Call the charity: 0845 200 8510.
