MINNEAPOLIS, JUNE 8 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T announced today that it has won a $27 million contract to deploy a global networking solution for Cargill, an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services. Under the agreement, AT&T will provide domestic and international high-speed data, Internet and voice services. The agreement extends and expands a long-standing relationship between the two companies.
Cargill has business interests spanning 59 countries on six continents. The solution will enable Cargill to more efficiently integrate communications between its remote global facilities.
"We understand the importance of having a secure, reliable network for the company to communicate with its various businesses and business partners," said Rita Heise, Cargill's corporate vice president of Information Technology. "Choosing AT&T to handle these critical tasks enables us to focus on what we're here for, which is to be the premier provider of food, farm and financial products and services in the world."
AT&T will migrate Cargill to Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, enabling Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), disaster recovery and class of service with priority queuing for business applications on a global scale.
Through the secure AT&T BusinessDirect(R) portal, Cargill has around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to electronic billing and trouble management systems. AT&T BusinessDirect was recently recognized by the Yankee Group for providing customers with the strongest online support and service experience in the industry.
