BroadLight and DASAN to Power the GPON Network for Hanaro Telecom Deployments Starting in Korea in Q4 2008
BroadLight, the leading supplier of GPON semiconductors and software, and DASAN Networks, a leading supplier to the major service providers in Korea, today announced that DASAN has selected BroadLight's end-to-end (E2E) GPON technology in their FTTH products for deployment at Hanaro Telecom planned for later this year. BroadLight's E2E semiconductor and software solutions for OLT and ONU have enabled DASAN to successfully complete a very quick design cycle for its GPON products which have already passed Hanaro's initial testing.

About the BL3458
The BL3458 is a 4-port GPON OLT controller consuming an amazingly low 4 Watts in a 35x35mm package. The BL3458 includes; 4 ITU-T G.984 compliant MACs; an embedded processor for device provisioning and controlling; a Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) engine; burst-mode CDR and SERDES; seamless connectivity to the leading Ethernet switches and Network Processors for TR-101 based service provisioning and proven interoperability and performance. PONMaker software simplifies OLT development and speeds time to market by enabling the BL3458 to operate autonomously implementing the field proven and ITU-T interoperable G.984 PON stack over all GPON links.
To aid in quick time-to-market, BroadLight offers the BL3458 development system. It is a 1 RU chassis based system which is comprised of two ATCA AMC GPON OLT 4-port modules with standard Small Form factor Pluggable (SFP) GPON OLT transceivers. Up to 8 GPON links can be serviced through the development system's two 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplink interfaces.
About the BL2345
The powerful BL2345 ONT System on Chip (SoC) is designed to meet the high-performance requirements of GPON connected Optical Network Termination and Residential Gateway devices. The BL2345 is built upon BroadLight's dual core Runner network processor architecture to provide the flexibility, high-performance and low-power features necessary for new generation of high-speed CPE. The BL2345 offers flexible data port configuration options from 2 gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports to 1 GbE with 4 switched fast Ethernet (FE) ports, connectivity for Universal Serial Bus (USB), 802.11 wireless devices, HPNA and other home networking interfaces along with support for multiple VoIP configurations for POTS. Its embedded field proven GPON MAC is industry proven with ITU-T G.984 compliant Optical Line Terminals (OLTs). BroadLight's ONT solution includes the PONmaker software package running on the powerful 450 MHz MIPS32 CPU which allows developers to implement ITU-T G.984 compliant GPON ONT products quickly and with low-risk. The BL2345's performance and flexible data port and voice services capabilities makes the BL2345 ideal for Multi-Dwelling/Tenant Unit (MDU/MTU) as well as Single Family Unit (SFU) ONT applications. The BL2345 comes in a 19x19mm package and consumes 1.2W.
