CASTRO VALLEY — Redwood Chapel Community Church, which is in the business of inspiring people, is itself inspired by public safety officers.

That’s why the church annually hosts a Night of Honor for the community to thank representatives of fire and law enforcement agencies for their services.

The ninth meet-and-greet session, which includes an outdoor barbecue dinner, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the church, 19300 Redwood Road.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and younger. Public safety employees and their families will receive complimentary tickets.

Glenn Miller, a coordinator with the church men’s ministries program, said representatives of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Departments, municipal police and fire departments, and emergency medical personnel have been invited.

Several hundred people usually attend the event, and emergency equipment, such as fire trucks, is displayed in the church parking lot.

Call 510-886-6300 for information and reservations.
