"I am very excited to accept this award tonight on behalf of Sprint," said Maureen Link, area vice president - Northeast, Sprint, upon accepting the award. "Our company has been in the process of transforming the way we do business to better serve our customers. Fortunately, our customers have responded! This recognition of a job well done is truly an honor for all of us at Sprint. Thank you."
Sprint's business turnaround began in the summer of 2003 and took full effect in 2004 as Sprint transformed its organization from a product-centric structure to one mirroring customer segments and needs. Now, instead of marketing along product lines such as wireless or long-distance, Sprint markets its full suite of products directly to businesses and consumers. This has given Sprint the ability to redefine the customer experience by launching new services such as the Sprint PCS Fair & Flexible(SM) Plan, the Sprint PCS Better Wireless Guarantee and wireless Service Level Agreements. The transformation also led to improved financial performance as 2004 saw an increase in consolidated revenues; revenues from growth areas such as wireless, DSL and data; and equity value.
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie winners from among the Finalists. Finalists were chosen by business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in February through April.
Sprint also was selected as a Stevie Award finalist in the areas of Best Turnaround Executive, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program (More than 2,500 Employees), Best New Product or Service (Telecommunications) and Best Marketing Organization.
