Millions Checking Out Funny or Die
More than 8 million unique visitors checked out Funny or Die last month, the U.S. comedy Web site announced Tuesday.
Funny or Die’s founders are Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy. Judd Apatow is one of the site’s principal partners.
August’s viewership marked the highest traffic month in the company’s yearlong history, the proprietors of the Web site said, adding that the No. 1 source of Funny or Die’s August traffic was from users navigating directly to Funny or Die via a bookmark or by typing www.funnyordie.com into their browser to view the funny videos.
“The increase in traffic demonstrates the strength of the Funny or Die brand, as well as the tremendous growth and momentum we are experiencing, especially since it came at a time when traffic is low for many other sites,” Dick Glover, CEO of Funny or Die and the Or Die Networks, said in a statement. “The Paris Hilton video, which premiered in August was clearly a huge viral hit, but only accounted for 16 percent of the page views and so was only one piece of what made August such a great month.”
Since it was established, Funny or Die has attracted more than 213 million video views, had more than 37,000 videos uploaded and averages 3.2 million unique visitors per month, the company said.
