Posted on: Wednesday, 10 September 2008, 09:00 CDT

Network solutions provider BigBand Networks, has introduced a new network-based media processing platform to help broadband service providers transition from a broadcast video distribution model to personalized video delivery.

According to BigBand, its new platform is designed to deliver personalized video services, including IPTV, addressable advertising, higher-quality multi-channel HD and value-added interactive services.

The BigBand media services platform, MSP2000, gives broadband service providers a new path to deliver personalized video services and harnesses existing infrastructure to open new revenue opportunities per subscriber, including through more relevant advertising. The platform enhances the quality of video services across cable, DSL, fiber and wireless access networks. BigBand's MSP2000 is currently in trials with service providers worldwide, with commercial roll-outs expected in 2009.

Amir Bassan-Eskenazi, CEO of BigBand Networks, said: "We've built the platform over the last three years in close cooperation with our strategic customers from both cable and telco worldwide to address the changing paradigm from broadcast video services to a delivery model that is personalized. With the BigBand MSP our customers can reliably deliver differentiated, value-added services regardless of the types of access networks that they operate."
