IN BRIEF: Elbow Album Scoops Title
September 10, 2008
ELBOW were last night announced winners of this year’s Nationwide Mercury Prize. Their album, The Seldom Seen Kid, beat 11 others to win the title and pounds 20,000. The prize champions UK music and is open to all genres of music. It attracted around 240 entries this year, more than ever before, said organisers. The Bury outfit’s fourth disc darts between sparse electronica, flamenco influenced beats and Led Zeppelin-inspired rock.
