Five of the top 10 biggest search topics on this week's Movers and Shakers list center around the GOP ticket, as Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (#1) tops The Lycos 50, coming in at number one, generating more online interest than Paris Hilton (#2) and YouTube (#3). Palin continues to dominate news headlines, with searches spiking 500 percent over the past week for the Sarah Palin Speech. Search interest in Bristol Palin also increases four-fold as web users scour the internet in search of details on the pregnant daughter of the GOP vice presidential nominee, while online interest in the father of Bristol's child, Levi Johnston, triples. Search interest also triples for the RNC and searches double for Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain. And from the non-political world, the television premieres of both Gossip Girl and the new 90210 score big hits with TV viewers and web users alike. Gossip Girl, which sees its best-ever TV ratings with 3.4 million viewers according to the CW, jumps 433 percent this week, while the highly-anticipated debut of the 90210 remake beat Gossip Girl's ratings by 34 percent according to Nielson, and sees a 380 percent bump in search activity on Lycos.
