AC/DC to Kick Off World Tour in Pa.
The Australian heavy metal band AC/DC announced plans Thursday to kick off its “Black Ice World Tour” in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., next month.
The first gig on the group’s latest tour is scheduled Oct. 28 at the Wachovia Arena. The show kicks off a series of U.S. arena shows, to be followed by a round of stadium dates next summer, Columbia Records said.
Tickets for upcoming U.S. dates go on sale Sept. 20 at Ticketmaster and the band’s Web site — www.acdc.com. Additional appearances throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia are expected to be announced shortly, the band’s record label said.
The world tour is the group’s first since 2001. It is to support AC/DC’s latest studio album, “Black Ice,” which goes on sale Oct. 20 exclusively at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and www.acdc.com.
The album’s first single, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train” was released last month. The music video for the song is to debut Sept. 19 on www.acdc.com and www.vh1.com, Columbia Records said.
