HER STORY: Personal perspectives on life right now
Town: Hull
Age: 61
Occupation: Campus Director, ITT Technical Institute, Woburn
Proudest Accomplishments
Receiving my doctorate in higher education from Harvard University. In 1972, I went to work at Northeastern University as a secretary, working days and going to school nights. I did my entire education part time while working at least one full-time job. Twenty- five years later, in 1997, I received my terminal degree. I am the only person in my family to do so.
Looking Forward
I have the best job in the world, a nice home, and good friends. I look forward to two things: presenting my students with their associate’s degrees during our September graduation, and losing those last stubborn pounds.
Perfect Day
When my commute to Woburn from Hull is as light as it would be on a Sunday; when I accomplish everything on my “to do” list; and when I know I have made a difference in someone else’s life.
Pass it on
Hold on to your dream. When I first started going to school evenings, no one (my parents included) believed I’d even finish my associate’s degree. Only you have control of your destiny.
