Pittsburgh’s Web Site Gets High-Tech Help

A Squirrel Hill-based Web search company will donate its cutting- edge technology to help make Pittsburgh's home page easier to navigate, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's administration announced Wednesday.

Vivisimo, developed by Carnegie Mellon University researchers, allows users to find Web site search results in clusters according to themes.

The tool has been available on the city's Web site for years, but Vivisimo only recently agreed to make the freebie arrangement long term, said Ravenstahl's spokeswoman Joanna Doven.
