VIP Tone Leverages rPath’s Technology for Its EduTone Gateway(TM)

September 12, 2008

VIP Tone today announced it has selected rPath’s rBuilder(R) and the rPath Appliance Platform(TM) to distribute and maintain its EduTone Gateway(TM) virtual appliance. VIP Tone’s EduTone(TM) Platform is a single sign-on identity management and web services delivery and provisioning platform, specifically designed for the K-20 education vertical market.

rPath’s rBuilder is the first and only development platform that simplifies and automates the creation of virtual appliances. rBuilder gives VIP Tone an automated and repeatable build process to ensure the highest quality images every time, and the rPath Appliance Platform provides a complete appliance lifecycle management capabilities, from creation through deployment, configuration, management, and update.

“Until now, data driven systems in K-20 education have been managed manually, one at a time,” said Robert Iskander, CEO, VIP Tone. “The rPath virtual appliance route enables us to automate software distribution, rapidly deploy our platform as well as update and maintain deployments globally in a streamlined environment. We can even have an initial deployment operational within a few hours time.”

The EduTone Gateway enables customer-premise, automated, single sign-on access to web-based applications and proprietary content channels. This end-to-end authentication infrastructure creates a comprehensive solution that provides full integration of SIS and human resources data with user identity and credentials information. Additionally, the EduTone Gateway securely automates identity data lifecycle management for schools, improving web security and simplifying overall system administration.

“VIP Tone recognizes that virtual appliances provide the K-20 education market with a simple solution that is easy to deploy and maintain. By leveraging rPath’s technology, they are able to capitalize on the fastest and most complete route to market for their appliance,” said Billy Marshall, rPath CEO.
