TOKYO (AP) -- Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corp. and U.S. chipmaker Texas Instruments will work together on software for developing camera-equipped cell phones.
The agreement announced by the two companies Monday covers camera phones using the GSM/GPRS format, the main format in Europe and Asia, where demand for camera phones is growing.
Texas Instruments leads the world in supplying GSM-GPS chips. Sharp is a major producer of liquid crystal displays for cell phones.
