New Eco-Friendly HP Notebooks

By Chandra Devi

HEWLETT-PACKARD has rolled out six new consumer notebook computers that offer energyefficient features and use select materials for easy recycling. The lineup comprises three models each from the Pavilion and Compaq Presario brands.

In terms of performance, the Pavilion series models dv4, dv5 and dv7 are built for entertainment with features such as a high-end NVidia graphics card, integrated TV tuner and Blu-ray optical drive.

For processing power, consumers can opt to go AMD or Intel, together with a high-speed eSATA interface for backing up to external storage drives.

The Pavilion models also have incorporated HP ProtectSmart hard drive protection technology, previously only available in HP's business-class notebooks.

As for the Compaq Presario models CQ20, CQ40 and CQ45, they are made affordable with simple features for productivity and communications.

Among the three models, the CQ20 is the entry-level offering. Built for travel, it has a 12.1-inch widescreen display and weighs close to 1.7 kilograms. It is also an "HP Designed in Asia for Asia" product.
