U4EA Technologies Announces Wireless LAN Solution for Small-to-Medium Business Market
U4EA Technologies, a leading provider of integrated access technology for converged communications, today announced the Fusion 300 Wireless LAN Controller and Fusion 50 Access Points (AP), a centrally managed Wi-Fi solution designed specifically for the small-to-medium business (SMB) segment. The Fusion 300 is optimized for environments with limited in-house IT or wireless expertise, enabling SMBs to have a secure wireless network with enterprise-class functionality up-and-running in less than 15 minutes.
"As individuals increasingly adopt Wi-Fi capable handsets and client devices, IT departments must adapt to provide seamless mobility," said Jon Arnold, principal of J Arnold & Associates. "Up until now, that's been a difficult task for SMBs, as WiFi gear has been designed primarily for the home or enterprise user. U4EA's product addresses this sweet spot in the marketplace, giving IT managers a comprehensive plug-and-play Wi-Fi solution without the expensive overhead. It's good to see a Wi-Fi solution that is built from the ground-up targeted specifically for the SMB segment."
"Currently, SMBs have two choices when it comes to implementing Wi-Fi: they can go with consumer APs, which are sorely lacking in terms of business features such as RADIUS authentication, guest access, and intrusion detection, or they can go with feature-full, but very expensive and difficult to configure enterprise-class APs," said Ken Epps, CEO of U4EA. "The Fusion 300 offers the enterprise security and management features that SMBs need without the pain and complexity of enterprise configuration, and all at an extremely competitive price."
The Fusion 300 controller offers the following unique features and functionality:
-- Plug and Play - The U4EA Fusion 300 WLAN is easy to deploy and manage, with an automated configuration process designed for IT managers who want to quickly get their staff up-and-running. The administrator simply assigns an IP address to the controller, a name to the wireless network, and some simple security parameters to activate a secure network. The rest of configuration, including security and channel selection, is handled automatically. Anything that isn't automatic is template-driven. Decisions over advanced features like load-balancing and beacon interval can be configured once, and that template is then always available to the administrator in the future.
-- Future-Proof - The Fusion 300 controller is technology agnostic, as well as 802.11n-ready to handle the next generation of APs and Wi-Fi capabilities with only a software upgrade. It also provides seamless controller scalability - supporting environments as small as a few users and two APs to as large as 250 users and 25 APs.
-- Enterprise-grade Security - The Fusion 300 wireless gateway enables SMBs to deploy genuinely secure networks without the burden of running separate authentication servers or other complicated network devices. The Fusion 300 offers built-in RADIUS and captive portal functionality, 802.1x authentication, separate guest networks and prioritized traffic.
-- Toll Quality Voice and Seamless Roaming - The Fusion 300 provides out-of-the box support for toll-quality voice and fast, seamless roaming. The product supports up to 60 toll quality calls on a single access point, and enables clients to roam freely, even across switch and router boundaries, and irrespective of the subnet to which the AP is attached.
When deployed with the U4EA Fusion Multi-service Business Gateway (MSBG), the Fusion 300 WLAN Controller provides a comprehensive Fixed Mobile Convergence solution for voice, video and data. U4EA's MSBGs provide an industry-leading nine QoS classes that guarantee wire-speed bandwidth and control packet loss and delay for VoIP and other mission-critical applications and hosted services. Combined with the Fusion 300's toll quality voice and seamless roaming, the two products provide the best end-to-end quality of experience for unified communications solutions. The Fusion 300 can also be deployed as a stand-alone solution, integrating seamlessly into any SMB LAN.
The Fusion 300 and 50 are now available through U4EA's partner distribution network, which includes service providers, distributors, VARs and resellers serving the SMB and SME market. For more information, contact [email protected]
