Providence Presbyterian Church Presents Mary Mozelle and Dennis Owens in "Sights and Sounds of the Pipe Organ"

Providence Presbyterian Church (9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22031), "Where Life and Faith Connect," today announced its concert season's opening performance, "Sights and Sounds of the Pipe Organ." Nationally recognized performers, Mary Mozelle, organist, and Dennis Owens, retired WGMS morning host, will combine their talents to demonstrate the magnificence of Providence's new Lively-Fulcher pipe organ. The performance will be presented on Sunday, October 5 at 7:00 P.M. and will be followed by a reception featuring refreshments and a time to meet the artists.
This event is the first of six concerts in the 2008-2009 Music and Arts Series sponsored by Providence Presbyterian Church. "The word is out about Music and Arts at Providence," states Jane Kaye, organist at Providence. "We are thrilled to showcase our new pipe organ and the fine acoustics of our beautiful sanctuary in this opening concert." Mary Mozelle, with narration provided by Dennis Owens, has performed this concert in various venues with first class pipe organs. The concert is not only entertaining, but gives the audience vast knowledge of the workings of a pipe organ.
"Music and Arts at Providence is a ministry of music and drama to uplift the spirit, inform the mind, and warm the heart," says Roger Shoup, interim pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church. More and more people are hearing about this growing ministry of first class performances in Fairfax.
Tickets are required for admission, and may be purchased in advance by calling the church office at 703-978-3934. Adult tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door; student and senior tickets are $10, and $15 at the door. This concert is the first of six in the season series. The next offering will be a free concert on October 26, featuring the choral ensembles of George Mason University. On January 25, 2009, Duo Con Brio, Kevin and Barbara Vigil on guitar and flute, will perform. Puccini's beloved opera, La Boheme, will be performed in concert on March 15. On May 17, the Washington Sax Quartet will grace the stage at Providence. The final performance of the season will be an American Guild of Organists organ concert on June 12, and this performance will also be free. Season tickets to Music and Arts at Providence, which include tickets to the two free concerts, are $80 for adults and $40 for students and seniors.
