IBM Provides Green Data Center for Saigon Bank

Posted on: Tuesday, 16 September 2008, 06:00 CDT

IBM has collaborated with Vietnam-based commercial bank Saigon Commercial Bank, SCB, to implement a scalable green data center.

IBM and SCB will work together to transform SCB's existing data center to a scalable modular data center. IBM will also provide project management, recovery plan, and network assessment services.

The deal is part of IBM's Project Big Green, a $1 billion initiative to increase the efficiency of its products and help clients increase energy efficiency in their data centers.

Than Ngoc Minh, chief accountant and chief information officer at SCB, said: "IBM engaged with SCB from the very beginning to understand our critical business needs and design appropriate products. We look forward to IBM's expertise to design and build a globally benchmarked, standardized, scalable, and energy-efficient facility that can support our dynamic growth plans effectively."

IBM plans to implement the entire data center in an eight-to-24-week period.
