NetApp Ranks 14 on 2008 InformationWeek 500
NetApp (NASDAQ:NTAP) today announced that it ranked 14 on the 2008 InformationWeek 500, which awards companies that demonstrate innovative use of technology. The winners were revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony as part of the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, California.
“We are honored that NetApp was recognized by InformationWeek for its innovative use of technology,” said Marina Levinson, senior vice president and CIO. “One example of NetApp innovation is our commitment to green technology through our unique and efficient data center storage design. Using these products and techniques in our own data center demonstrates the dramatic impact companies can have by reducing IT costs and their impact on the environment.”
NetApp’s high ranking in the 2008 InformationWeek 500 was based on answers to a detailed application and two submitted essays. The first essay highlighted NetApp’s innovative technology strategies to reduce power consumption and increase energy efficiency in its data center. The second focused on its internal application developed to improve customer service by identifying potential problems at customer sites before the customer is aware of them.
“For 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. “Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year’s winners and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the center of business technology innovation.”
InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing, now in its 20th year, and has tracked the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The InformationWeek 500 list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
