Himfr.Com: Shaanxi Apple Production to Reach 8 Million Tons This Year

BEIJING, Sept. 17 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- China's Shaanxi is increasingly becoming one of the most important apple export region, with apple ( http://www.himfr.com/ps-apple/ ) production reaching 8 million tons this year, Himfr.com reports.
Information according to himfr.com ( http://www.himfr.com/) shows that in 2007, fruit ( http://www.himfr.com/post/ ) cultivation area of China's Shaanxi Province comprised 1327 hectares, with an output of 9.4 million tons, of which 727 hectares were apple-growing areas, with an output of 7.01 million tons. Production of apple juice ( http://www.himfr.com/buy-apple_juice/ ) reached 710,000 tons.
In 2008, apple cultivation area spans over 800 million mu, with a production that is expected to reach 8 million tons. In the first half of the year, Shaanxi exported over 400 million U.S. dollars of fruit. Himfr.com reports that Shaanxi's apple production accounted for about one-third of the country's output, and planting apple has become an important source of income for local farmers.
