Toshiba Adds Value Model To Satellite M45 Notebook Series, Multimedia Upgrades Throughout Line

Satellite M45-S165 Priced at $1,049(1); Entire 15.4-inch Diagonal

Widescreen Line Enhanced for Multimedia Performance

Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products celebrating Toshiba's 20th anniversary of the first mass-marketed laptop computer, today announced the latest line-up of its popular Satellite(R) M45 notebook series, including a new value model and feature enhancements throughout the line to bolster multimedia performance.

Priced at $1,049(1), the Satellite M45-S165 features the M45 series' 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen display enhanced with Toshiba TruBrite(TM) technology as well as Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor(2) 370, Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home, 512MB memory(3), 80GB hard drive(4) and integrated Atheros(R) 802.11 b/g wireless(5) in a six-pound(6) form factor.

The notebook also includes upgraded specifications throughout the M45 series line -- a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive compatible with current DVD formats that nearly doubles a recordable DVD's storage capacity in DVD+R format, and 5400 rpm hard drives(4) for quicker access to stored files.

The Satellite M45-S265, priced at $1,299(1) and Satellite M45-S355, priced at $1,499(1), feature Intel Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology with upgraded Intel Pentium(R) M processors(2), Toshiba Express Media Player for instant access to CD, DVD playback without booting up the Windows operating system, Intel PRO/Wireless(5) 2200BG (802.11 b/g) and 100GB hard drives(4) spinning at 5400 rpm for quick file access. The Satellite M45-S355 also features 1024MB memory(3) and 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for the convenient transfer of files with memory sticks.

Included Microsoft(TM) Office OneNote(TM) 2003 software enables users to better capture, organize, find and share notes gathered from e-mail, meetings, presentations, classes, the Web and other sources. OneNote captures virtually any type of information -- ranging from typed notes to audio -- in a single convenient place.

The Satellite M45 series notebooks come with a one-year limited warranty with Toshiba's premier global service for the mobile computing user. Extended limited warranties are available. Customers can choose from several service options, including carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country for same-day or next-day service, or utilizing any of more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized Depot for 24-hour service turnaround.

A 30-day free trial of MyConnect(TM) Internet Access Service (www.toshibamyconnect.com) is included, providing notebook computer users unlimited Internet access in hotels, airports, restaurants, bookstores, etc. via Wi-Fi(R), broadband cable or dial-up connection.
