Toshiba Launches Application Development Program Enabling Third-Party Development for Strata Telecom Systems

Posted on: Tuesday, 14 June 2005, 12:00 CDT

Annual Subscription Enables ISVs, VARs, SIs and Dealers Access to Software Development Kits, FeatureFlex, Online Sales Site, Tech Support

Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Solutions Division (TAIS DSD) today announced the launch of its new Toshiba Application Development Program for third-party telecommunications developers, independent software vendors, value added resellers, systems integrators and its Authorized Toshiba Dealer Network. For an annual subscription fee, members have access to all the tools and support they need, including Toshiba's FeatureFlex(TM), to develop applications for Toshiba's award-winning Strata CIX(TM) pure IP business communications system and Toshiba's Strata CTX(R) digital business communications system.

"The Toshiba Application Development Program empowers third-parties to create and market new applications using FeatureFlex for thousands of Strata CIX IP users," said Larry Meyer, vice president, sales and marketing, of TAIS DSD. "As a result, it then gives our authorized dealers and enterprise customers access to a virtually limitless number of applications that will allow them to communicate in ways that are unique to their own needs."

Toshiba Application Development Program comprises:

-- Toshiba Application Development Network (TAD Network) -- This online, password-protected site provides access to Toshiba software, software upgrades, and much more. It also functions as a forum for the community of Toshiba developers, facilitating interaction and networking. TAD Network is also home to an online database of application modules for customers and Toshiba's Authorized Dealer Network of more than 800 dealer locations nationwide.

-- Software Developers Kit -- This kit provides everything needed to create applications for Toshiba Strata telecommunications systems. It includes modules for:

-- FeatureFlex development using industry-standard TCL programming language to create and enable new telephone system features. It combines call control capabilities and voice processing capabilities into a single development environment, enabling a wide range of possible applications.

-- System TAPI development, which provides first- and third-party call control to the Strata CTI link. This enables the development of third-party server-based applications that can be tightly integrated with the backend server applications.

-- Station TAPI development, which provides an inexpensive way to implement CTI application using First Party Call Control capabilities for small number of users.

-- Info Manager development, which provides the web applications on the IP phone by taking advantage of the browser capability of the IPT2008 large display IP phone.

-- Toshiba Training -- It includes a two-day FeatureFlex training for one person at Toshiba in Irvine, Calif. Additional training is available.

-- Toshiba Development Support -- 10 hours is included. Extra support hours are available for members only.

-- Access to Toshiba Authorized Dealer Network -- Application and vendor introductions are made on Toshiba's dealer intranet, so dealers can directly purchase and work with independent developers.

-- Visibility via Toshiba's public website at www.telecom.toshiba.com.
