Q2 Outward Processing Exports Up 8%

According to news.gov.hk: About $130.8-billion worth of Hong Kong’s total exports to the Mainland in the second quarter were for outward processing, up 8% on the same period last year, the Census & Statistics Department says. The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing dropped 31% to $3.7 billion while the value of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 10% to $127.1 billion. The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing fell 1% to $204.2 billion while $184.5 billion of the city’s re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland, down 10%. In the first half of the year $232.3 billion of Hong Kong’s total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing, up 4% on the same period last year. The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing dropped 22% to $7.1 billion while re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing grew 5% to $225.3 billion. The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing increased 0.2% to $388.2 billion while $388.1 billion of Hong Kong’s re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland, up 1%.
