silex technology america, Inc. Announces the First Print / Scan Server for Canon Printers

silex technology america, Inc. is announcing the addition of the PRICOM C-6200U 10/100TX USB printer server to the PRICOM brand product lineup for the U.S. market. PRICOM C-6200U supports Canon CAPT (Canon Advanced Printing Technology) printers as well as inkjet printers and multifunction printers. This is one of the first USB print server products to support Canon printers with CAPT technology.

C-6200U supports bi-directional communication with printers and multifunction devices:

Because the Canon CAPT printer driver requires bi-directional communication between the PC and the printer in order for the CAPT device to process a print job, the conventional print server products are unable to work properly over the network. With silex's development efforts in association with Canon, silex technology has developed a unique capability to allow the PRICOM C-6200U to support the CAPT driver requirements. The PRICOM "C" series of products have been developed in association with Canon for use with Canon's printer products. It offers full Canon status and monitoring support over a network. The user can retrieve remotely the printer status information such as ink levels and operational conditions connected on the network.

PRICOM USB Utility is included:

Included with the product is silex's PRICOM USB Utility that allows the user to connect to a scanner*, including Canon's latest MultiPASS MP700 and MP730 multifunction devices in Windows 2000 and Windows XP environments. This utility allows the client PC on the network to connect and use the scan tools provided from Canon such as MP Toolbox.

* Scanner must have support for TWAIN driver.
