Pacnet Teams With Riverbed to Deliver Latest Application Acceleration Solution Across Key Markets in Asia
Pacnet today launched its Application Acceleration Service, enabling enterprises to speed up application performance across their IP network for increased business efficiency without any added complexity. Pacnet has partnered with Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), to deliver this new service through the Riverbed(R) flagship Steelhead(R) appliances and Steelhead Mobile client software. Together with Pacnet's next-generation network, enterprises can accelerate the performance of some applications by up to 50 times.
"Unique to Pacnet's solution is the ability to leverage the region's most extensive submarine cable network EAC-C2C, to provide diverse and robust network connections to support the service," said Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer, Pacnet. "Customers can also enjoy Pacnet's detailed traffic utilization and application performance reporting features."
"As multinational enterprises need to support a more geographically dispersed workforce and a greater number of users and devices accessing applications across their network, the challenge is to improve the user experience. This new service is specifically designed to help enterprises address this challenge by providing a solution to manage, monitor and accelerate performance and expand scope of applications across their network," Mr. Barney added.
"We are delighted that Pacnet has selected Riverbed WDS as the basis of Pacnet's new Application Acceleration Service. As one of the largest providers of network and related services to enterprise customers in Asia and worldwide, Pacnet brings to its customers a significant opportunity to reduce total cost, improve return-on-investment and achieve better overall business processes -- all in a managed service environment that relieves customers of the worries of having to manage different vendors for their various network technology needs," said Jerry M. Kennelly, Chief Executive Officer, Riverbed.
Pacnet's Application Acceleration Service also allows enterprises to enable branch offices and mobile workers with Local Area Network (LAN)-like access to data and critical business applications such as email, enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems, across the WAN.
In addition to improving staff productivity and collaboration, the accelerated performance provided by the new service also enables enterprises to consolidate server and storage resources, as well as improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity.
Delivered as an end-to-end service, Pacnet will take on the complexity of managing the service for the customer, allowing them to focus their resources on growing their core business.
Pacnet's newest end-to-end service offering adds to its expanding suite of managed services which includes its Managed Router and Managed Firewall services. It can be deployed in a day, and includes equipment procurement or leasing, installation, configuration, maintenance and 7x24 network monitoring.
Pacnet is the region's largest independent telecommunications service provider, formed from the operational merger of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet.
