Dell’s Top Man Meets Irish Staff

September 24, 2008

By SARAH BARDON

THE future of Dell in Ireland could be decided by the end of the day today after the firm’s second most powerful figure visited its biggest plant here.

Founder Micheal Dell sent his right-hand man Micheal Cannon to assess the Raheen factory in Limerick.

More than 3,000 workers met with Mr Cannon and demanded answers about the future of the plant and their jobs from the Global Head of Operations.

The visit comes after speculation bosses had already decided to shut down the Limerick plant and move to Poland.

Dell also employs 1,300 sales support staff at Cherrywood, South Dublin.

But thousands more jobs could be in jeopardy as the trickle down effect of the pull out begins to be felt.
