T-Systems Wins Alcatel-Lucent Contract

Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems has won a contract from Alcatel-Lucent to provide onsite desktop support for its European and Middle Eastern operations. Datamonitor estimates the contract to be worth $75m over three years.

Under the contract, the company will maintain and deploy 40,000 desktop and notebook PCs in 23 countries. It will also provide onsite support for UNIX workstations, printers, IP telephones, videoconferencing systems and first-level support for the network infrastructure linking them.

The company has been providing onsite support to Alcatel-Lucent for its workstation systems in Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium since 2004.

This contract follows the company's three-year contract with Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG earlier this month, to develop and operate its entire information and communication technology infrastructure. In March, it won a five-year $1.58 billion contract from Royal Dutch Shell to provide hosting and storage services.
